Overcome Infertility - Pelvic Inflammation Disease Pid In Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective

I. Definition
Pelvic inflammation disease (PID) is defined as condition caused by inflammation or infection of the female uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries as a result of scars and adhesion in the pelvic which in turn may prevent the implantation of egg during natural pregnancy process. It affects over 1 million women in U.S. every month and most of them are in their teen and twenties and over 100,000 women become infertile in the US alone each year.
In traditional Chinese medicine (PID) is classified as the infections of a woman reproductive system. While convention medicine focus in using antibiotics to destroy the invasion of bacteria, virus, fungi, etc, in the infection or inflammation area, traditional Chinese medicine treats the problem as some tiny changes in the women ecosystem that cause (PID) such as itching in the genital area, abnormal vaginal discharge and power abdominal cramps and pain.

II. Causes and Diagnosis of (PID) in the traditional Chinese perspective
A. Causes
Traditional Chinese medicine view (PID) as a condition of genital itching and leukorrhea (it is a medical term that denotes a thick, whitish vaginal discharge) caused by dysfunction of Liver, Kidney and Spleen. Traditional Chinese medicine believes pelvic inflammation disease is caused by damp heat moving downward and accumulated in the pelvic region as a result of liver stagnation or/and Spleen yin deficiency or and kidney deficiency, leading to blood and qi deficiency or/ and stagnation, which in turn causes genital itching and leukorrhea. Therefore treating (PID) is focused in diagnosis of vagina discharge.

B. Diagnosis and vagina discharges
1. Spleen deficiency with damp
a) Diagnosis
Normal vagina discharge is corlorless, odourless, sticky and vagina dryness, due to dampness accumulation as a result of Spleen yin deficiency, that in turns distorts the the kidney function in of fluid distribution, leading to dampness accumulation.
b) Vagina discharge
White, Watery and no smelly discharge with dull pale complexion

Discharge with discolor with foulsmelling

3. Kidney yang deficiency
a) Diagnosis
Spleen yang deficiency causes by the inability of kidney to regulating the fluid distribution, that can not control the fluid in the downward movement into the pelvic region.
b) Vagina discharge
Excessive white or pale yellow, sticky and no smelly vagina discharge

4. Kidney and liver yin deficiency
a) Diagnosis
Kidney and liver yin deficiency causes excessive yang in the liver, leading to not enough fluid to moister the liver, affecting the normal function of liver in blood formation.
b) Vagina discharge
A thick, whitish vaginal discharge, stiff and sharp back pain and vaginal dryness.

5. Damp heat accumulated in kidney channels
a) Diagnosis
If the qi run through kidney channels is blocked due to kidney qi deficiency, it causes fluid retention in the channels, leading to excessive accumulation of dampness and heat arising that affects the reproductive organs, including the pelvic region.
b) Vagina discharge
Vagina discharge is red and white

III. Chinese herbal Treatments
A. Spleen deficiency with damp
(Strengthen Spleen yang, eliminate damp)
1. Bai zhu
Bai zhu is also known as white atractylodes rhizome, It is warm in nature and used to treat the spleen deficiency yang due to fluid accumulation.

2. Shan yao
Shan yao is also known as Chinese yam, it is a neutral in nature and used to tonify Spleen yin and qi and eliminate damp.

3. Ren sheng
Ren sheng is also known as radix ginseng. It is one of most popular herbs and used over thousand of year in qi tonification and normal bleeding in the vagina due to infection and inflammation..

4. Cang zhu
Cang zhu is also known as rhizoma atractylodis, it has been used in TCM in treating of yeast infection and dries dampness and strengthening the stomach in food digestion.

5. Che qian zi
Che qian zi is also known as plantago seeds, it has a drain damp function through urination.

B. Spleen deficiency with damp heat
Treatment Strengthen Spleen yang, eliminate damp, clear heat

Huang bai is also known as amur cork tree bark, it is bitter in nature and has been used to clear heat and dry dampness.

3. Long dan cao
Long dan cao is also known as bitter root or bitterwort, it is bitter and cold in nature and has been used in TCM in clearing damp heat and dry vagina discharge caused by painful-swollen genitals.

4. Xiang fu
Xiang fu is also known as nut grass rhizome and has been used to regulate and strengthen the qi movement and treat abnormal menstruation due to liver's abnormal function.

C. Kidney yang deficiency
(Strengthen kidney yin)
1. Zhi fu zi
Zhi fu zi is also known as radix aconiti lateralis preparata, it has been used to reinforce yang, and to dispel wind, cold and damp caused kidney yang deficiency.

2. Du zhong
Du zhong is also known as ecommia barkwarm and has been used to promote and smooth the flow of qi and blood circulation by strengthening the kidney yang.

3. Shu di huang nourish kidney
Shu di huang is also known as Chinese fox glove,it is warm in nature and used to nourish blood and tonify kidney yang and essence.

Hai piao xiao is cuttlefish bone, warm in nature and has been used in TCM in stopping uterine bleeding with vaginal discharge and enhancing the kidney yang.

5. Ze xie is also known as water plantain

Where to get a three green colored chinese tea set?

I am looking for a chinese tea set that has three layers of different shades green. The darkest green was the one closest to the top/rim of the set. It included six cups and a tea pot (there might have been more). It was sold some time ago at Disney Epcot, about 25 years I'm guessing. I am looking to get one for my mother-- she worked there a long time ago and fell in love with it but didn't have the money to get it. Any help would be amazing. Thanks!

Chinese tea production

The history of tea in china can be traced back to Three Thousand years ago. Tea had been used for the "Offer Sacrifices" to Gods or the ancestors.

A new Chinese tea plant must grow for five years before its leaves can be picked and, at 30 years of age, it will be too old to be productive. The trunk of the old plant must then be cut off to force new stems to grow out of the roots in the coming year. By repeated rehabilitation in this way, a plant may serve for about l00 years .

For the fertilization of tea gardens, Soya-bean cakes or other varieties of organic manure are generally used, and seldom chemical fertilizers. When pests are discovered, the affected plants will be removed to prevent their spread, and also to avoid the use of pesticides.

The season of Chinese tea picking depends on local climate and varies from area to area. On the shores of West Lake in Hangzhou, where the famous green tea Longjing (Dragon Well) comes from, picking starts from the end of March and lasts through October, altogether 20-30 times from the same plants at intervals of seven to ten days. With a longer interval, the quality of the tea will deteriorate.

The new leaves must be parched in Chinese tea cauldrons. This work , which used to be done manually, has been largely mechanized. Top-grade Dragon Well tea, however, still has to be stir-parched by hand, doing only 250 grams every half hour. The tea-cauldrons are heated electrically to a temperature of about 25oC or 74oF. It takes four pounds of fresh leaves to produce one pound of parched tea.

How Oolong Tea is produced

Manual production method supported by tradition and craftsmanship.
The production of delicious oolong tea requires time-honored tradition and outstanding craftsmanship. Tea leaves are picked on the morning of a clear day. They should be picked in units consisting of one bud and three leaves and exposed to the sun. This is the first stage. The second stage is to dry them indoors to promote fermentation. The most crucial part in the production of oolong tea is when to stop fermentation. As oolong tea is fermented to some extent, it is called semi-fermented tea.

Experience is required to identify the best time to stop the fermentation, which is when the leaves are 30% red and 70% green. After this, they are rubbed repeatedly to generate good flavor, aroma, and texture. Then they are dried using charcoal. At the final stage, a tea master grades the quality according to the flavor and characteristics of each batch. China’s Fujian Chaye Jin Chukou Gongsi (Tea Import and Export Corporation and Fujian Tea Association) exports oolong tea to Japan.

Which is better for proper tea brewing... (Tetsubin ) cast iron or ceramic teapot?

I'm a novice in the world of loose leaf tea drinking and am looking into purchasing a teapot to brew it in. I was just told that the cast iron is not good for the tea's properties because it gets too hot which "kills" all the great properties tea has to offer. Is there any truth to this?

I was really leaning towards purchasing a cast iron because some of them look so beautifully crafted. Is there really any difference? I wasn't going to put it over a burner to boil but just to brew over tea light warmer so I don't think it would really heat it up to the point of boiling, right? Am I wrong?

Please help...because cast iron teapots tend to be pricey.

Yea. Cast iron is just to heat the water faster so you don't have to wait a longer time to boil and spoils the taste a little. You can use a ceramic pot if you like but it takes more time to boil the water but the taste will be there. It depends really which you prefer cause if you were to brew on a light warmer using a ceramic pot, it takes a longer time but if you use a iron pot, it faster. It all depends really on you.

Every household will have a teapot to brew tea and the beauty of it all is that the teapots will vary with the cultures of different countries. The Japan teapots have very simple designs that are imprinted on the surface and unlike the more upright styles of the English and Chinese teapots they are shorter and squatter in shape. The Tetsubin of the present days are much simpler, but in days gone by, the more elaborate it was, the higher was your status in society.

There was also another teapot caked 'kyusu' and they were specially made to brew Japanese green tea. Some of the better known teapots in Japan are the Miniyaki, Banko-yaki, and the houhin teapots for brewing gyokuro. Japan was renowned for its six prehistoric kilns namely Tokoname, Seto, Shigaraki, Echizen, Tanba and Bizen, of which Tokoname is said to be the oldest and the biggest. The teapots of the ancient era were hand made and superlative paradigms of skilled workmanship. The Tokoname teapots of Japan are recognized the world over.

Details of Arzberg Dinnerware

German porcelain factory, Arzberg, manufactured this pair of cups and saucers in around 1985 as part of its commercial range of contemporary teaware. The post-modern, transfer-printed patterns contrast the traditional porcelain forms. Arzberg has made functional, well-designed pieces since 1931. Its wares are characterised by minimal decoration, such as the linear patterns on these pieces .

The Arzberg porcelain factory opened in Bavaria, Germany, in 1887 though achieved enormous success in the late 1920s when it formed a partnership with Dr Hermann Gretsch, the organiser of the 1928 Berlin Exhibition of Good Design. In 1931, Arzberg released a white porcelain tea set, called the '1382', that Gretsch designed. Antique Teapots- The Blast From The Past!

People collect many things- stamps, coins to name a few. Some people make a hobby out of collecting antique teapots. As a matter of fact, antique teapots make for a good collector's item both for its beauty and investment value. The Yixing clay teapot made by Gongchun in 1513 is the earliest teapot that exists. It is kept at the Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware.

Antique teapots can be found at antique shops, auctions and even on the internet. Two of the most common makers of antique teapots are the Royal Copenhagen of Denmark and the RS Prussia.

To begin with, anyone who wants to make a hobby out of collecting antique teapots must do a study on its history and value. This is essential as it gives a person an idea of the value and worth of such teapots and saves them from investing excessively in inferior items.

One of the best places to look for antique teapots would be in your local antique shops. You must build up a good rapport with the owner of the shop and let them know of your interests. You could leave your contact numbers with them and ask them to contact you if anything of your interest comes in.

If you are looking for genuine antiques and are willing to pay a high price for it, then you must go to an estate sale. These sales often feature high quality antiques that have been in the family for generations.

Bidding in online auctions is another way to build up on your antique collection. In the hundreds of websites that you will find online, there will be antiques catering to both the beginner and the serious collector. To avoid paying too much, it is better to read up a bit on these items unless you are very keen on owning them and the cost does not matter much to you.
